Taking a Leap Back into the Gaming World

Hey folks,

Sorry to have left blogging and writing, but after many months of being a victim of School Assignments, block exams, and anything educationally unbalancing my life, I have returned to the Gaming scene. Why give Gaming a capital? Because I’ve realised how much I’ve missed playing amongst my friends, and enjoying the relaxation of this wonderful idea.

Knowing that I’ll be eventually graduating from Year 12 next year, I’ll be under a lot more stress to get these Blogs into action. Maybe in the near future, more blog writers will be introduced into my world of Gaming, and write alongside me with the same thoughts and ideas that I have.

Well to sum it all up, have fun, Game till your eyes get sore (Actually don’t) and kick some arse! :)

GSP’s, Game Server Providers. (Quadeye)

Hey again guys, just wanted to give you guys a review on Quadeye Game Server Providers.

Currently, my Counter-Strike: Source team is sponsored by Quadeye, and I’m going to give you a brief run down of how well this company provides support and expertise in the Game Server providing field.

Quadeye is a massive company designed by gamers, for gamers (Cliche). There customer support is off the chain, you won’t find any better. They have the nicest Administrators and staff you will ever meet! And they actually have a sense of humour, unlike other GSP’s who are almost robotic to replies.

To cut a long story short, Quadeye are a great company, have awesome servers, latency/ping is excellent, and you won’t find any better.

Here is their website: http://www.quadeye.com.au, and remember to put “Team iNiquity” Down as a reference!

Have fun guys!

Razer Lycosa & Deathadder

For those of you who don’t know, Razer have been making gaming products for quite some time now, and all of them have been a great success in helping gamers world wide get that extra edge over their opponents.

First off, I’ll start with the Razer Lycosa.
The Lycosa is the smoothest keyboard I’ve ever laid my fingers on. It’s rubber coated keys make them so slippery, but grippy at the same time, the rubber also stops the key letters from fading (I know many people have this problem :) ) Overall, it’s a really great keyboard, and has many functions, such as an illuminated background so that your keys light up, and theirs even an option to make only the WASD keys light up, just for gaming! Great keyboard, I’d give it a 10/10 for pure perfection :D

Now, the Razer Deathadder.
This east of a mouse is the best mouse on the market. It’s rubber coated (Once again) feel, and glossy sides, glowing logo and scroll wheel, all make it look absolutely stunning. This mouse isn’t just for gaming though, it’s smooth and comfortable and can be used even for office work! Though I’d have to put it to good use playing games etc.. :P
Overall I’d give this mouse a 10/10, gets a bit getting used to, but it’s extremely accurate with it’s 1800 DPI, made for low sensitivity gamers.

The Razer website can be found Here.

Left 4 Dead Quick Guide

Hey all,
Just here to give you a quick guide on Left 4 Dead, and how you can conquer the game within a few easy steps! :)

Firstly, as Infected.

Hunters: Try to get on fire, most levels usually have flaming barrels, or exploding scenarios where you can catch fire, or even jump into a Survivor’s Molotov. The reason? As a hunter you get fire damage, when can make all the difference in a 4 v 4 match!

Boomers: Get up close, and PERSONAL! Getting a boom on all 4 survivors means an unnecessary amount of zombies, and also they can’t see if a fellow survivor is being attacked by a hunter or smoker! It’s that great!

Smokers: Best class to get survivors down, just pull them off cliffs or edges! Stand where there are gaps infront of you, and pull a survivor over it, it’s an instant down!

Survivors!
Mainly, melee, melee, melee! Get down and dirty and melee those infected away from you! In zombie hordes chuck down an occasional pipe bomb, there main use is for that. Don’t waste you Molotov’s though! Use them against the tank! Once the tank is on fire, it will only take 45 seconds for him to be killed, you don’t even have to shoot! Nothing better than a flaming tank barbecue.. :)

That’s about it, happy fragging fellow L4D’ers and good night.

EVE Online Rumored to Be Developing a Social Network

According to the latest issue of E-ON, the EVE Online print magazine, CCP Games has been rumored to be developing a social network for players of the game known as Cosmos. Apparently the network will allow players, corporations, alliances and other groups to build profile pages and interact with others, as well as allow users to blog and upload photos and videos. E-ON claims that Cosmos will feature “the best (and possibly worst) from MySpace and Facebook.”

All of the above sounds rather pedestrian – it’s a social network like any other for a small niche of people. What’s different about Cosmos is that it’ll tie in not only with the official forums but allow you to manage your skills, assets, market data and contracts. Perhaps, at last, Cosmos will allow EVE players to change skills and sell items from any Internet-enabled device. No more logging in for every tedious action!

In the weeks leading up to the release of Apocrypha, EVE’s latest free expansion, some players were claiming that Cosmos was supposed to arrive in 2008 and was now slated for release with the March expansion. While the expansion came out on Tuesday, we’ve seen no indication of the out-of-game social network yet.

Left 4 Dead Update!

Yup folks, it’s now bigger, better, and juicier than ever before!

Versus Mode Changes

  • Tank melee attack can now hit multiple Survivors in one swing
  • Fixed Tank punch being able to hit targets behind walls
  • Fixes to ‘Tank parking’. The Tank will now run back and attack the Survivors if he becomes AI due to two players expiring the frustration meter
  • Fixed a case where a Tank frustration meter could run out right as he was in his death animation and he would come back to life
  • Fixed a case where the Tank was moving too slowly while crouching and being shot
  • Tanks now have the possibility of spawning in a slightly different position for the first and second teams
  • The order that the teams play as Survivors is now determined by which team has the higher overall score. The winning team will play as Survivors first
  • The Smoker tongue can now target and grab victims through common infected
  • Increased the cone in which a Smoker can grab a target
  • The Witch no longer cuts Smoker tongues in a radius around her
  • Boomers that explode in mid-air will now hit Survivors directly below them with Bile
  • Reduced the damage that burning Hunters do to pounced victims
  • Adjusted the time at which players take over from bots to avoid 5 seconds of the bot standing idle while the player finishes connecting.
  • Fixed some cases where versus score was not being recalculated properly. It is no longer beneficial to pass pills between players at the end of the round or heal other players and then shoot them
  • Fixed a case where it was possible to spectate an AI infected and hit +use to take them over

Server Changes

  • Added convar sv_gametype that allows server operators to limit the types of games that will start on their server. Default value is ‘coop, versus’. Can be changed to just ‘coop’ or just ‘versus’ to limit to those game types

General changes

  • Fixed a case where players would join as a dead Survivor when a living Survivor was still available
  • Fixed a case where restarting a level due to the team dying would give more than the max primary ammo on restart
  • Fixed the speaking icon showing up on the local player during level transition if voice_vox was set to 1
  • The scoreboard now shows the numeric value of a player’s ping

GameUI

  • Quick match will now try to match to any campaign. Removed the preference to match to games according to the player progressing through all campaigns
  • Games in a finale are now joinable via the Friends and Steam Group games list

The update brings a new feel to the game, and playing is much more enjoyable now as everyone has the same advantage. The fix for the tanks not being able to most fast whilst crouching through small areas is a major advantage now, same with the “Tanks can hit multiple targets with one swing” fix, they are both going to change the playing field tremendously.

Gaming Headsets, which one to choose?

Well, I did my research, and put together a little bit of information that I’ve gathered from around the web, too see which headsets are worth a lot, and which ones give you the best value FOR your money.

Firstly, I’ll start off with the most expensive, but very good value headphones.

Logitech Free Pulse Wireless HeadPhones/Bluetooth V2/2.4Ghz $115 “These are excellent. Paired easily with a HTC TyTn II Smartphone. Stereo Bluetooth, Solid 10 meter range and after 6 hours of almost continuous listening showed no sign of running down. Really impressive.” This is what Umart Online had to say about these headphones, and I have a couple of friends who say they are excellent for knowing exactly where the enemy is, and getting those sound kills really makes a difference!

Now, the value for your money pair of headphones,

Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 USB Retail $45 This is a pair that I myself own, there cheap, lightweight, and very comfortable. The voice output is terrific and the sound pickup can be amazing at times, and crappy at others. The only problem with using this in games, is that it has “Sound cancellation”, so if someone talks in game, or in your Ventrillo server, the sound in-game gets dimmed so that you can hear the person better, this is quite a disadvantage because you could miss those crucial sounds, such as triggers and footsteps!

The pro gaming headset,

Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset Microphone $75 “Fine-tune your audio senses with the Fatal1ty Gaming Headset, co-developed with world gaming champion Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel. Sleek, black and with a streak of fiery red, equip yourself with a world-class gaming arsenal that gives you the edge above all others. From the generous head padding to the enclosed plush earcups, your gaming sessions just became a whole lot more comfortable.” Is what Umart had to say, though I wouldn’t go with the Fatal1ty products just yet, just because they are a gaming company, they still do not have all “that” knowledge of what the customer needs!

If you have a headset which you think is good, and great value for your money, drop us a comment and let everyone know!

Now, as some of you may or may not know, the Sandman has been banned from various TF2 leagues because of it’s “Overpowered” ability to stun players for very long periods of time, ultimately changing the game, as this may come as a shock to many, it is indeed fair that everyone gets treated the same on the playing field, and no-one has a bigger advantage that another.

Team Fortress 2

I recently purchased this game, and was quite induldged in it’s unique style of gameplay. The game is full of “cartoonish” characters, and will never be an eye sorer! I played this game for at least 6 hours straight when I purhased it from Steam.

A little hint on getting achievements, don’t go busting in there with your 9mm pistol and expect to get kills, stick with your team and get the assists, they work just as well. Also, if you find any of the Achievement servers running, then join asap, even though they may confuse your statistics, they are a great beginners way of getting those easy achievements!

I’m really glad I bought this game, that brings my collect up to 5 on Steam (Counter-Strike: Source, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, Garry’s Mod, and Half Life 2). You can check out TF2 here.

Guide: Becoming a Counter-Strike: Source “Pro”

Always the person taking down an enemy, then being taken out by another?

Finding it hard to get those important frags?

Want to get those “Impossible” shots?

Then this guide is for you!

Counter-Strike: Source, produced by the Steam Application, created by Valve Corporation.

I decided to write this article up, as many people have asked me, and or questioned my ability to play Counter-Strike: Source (CSS, as I will now refer to in the rest of this post) so well, and this guide is a way of expressing how I think about the game.

First, I’ll start off with the weapon basics, and how to get the best out of that 30 bullet clip!

The AK-47

One of the best rifles in the game, I would rank this 2nd, the Terrorists gun of choice. The AK-47 has enough fire power to bring down an entire team, as does any gun, but this really packs a punch. The only real “problem” with the AK, is the tremendous amount of recoil. The recoil can simply be suppressed though, by bringing down your mouse whilst you shoot. Spraying is not the best way to go with this gun, as the damage impact on targets will be minimal, you’re best to stick with burst fire, 2-3 shots with a 1 second interval preferably.

The M4A1 (My gun of choice)

Most accurate rifle for close and distant combat, this is the M4A1. The M4A1 or as most people call it for short, the M4, has just a little less firepower than the AK, but is a whole lot more accurate! I prefer this gun over the AK any day, as you can get the most ridiculous strafing shots, whilst being immune to the enemy! The recoil on this gun is minimal, and is a great weapon to spray with, you just need to know the pattern of the spray, and control it for the best efficiency! Once again, 2-3 shots with a 1 second interval is the best way to go.

The Magnum (AWP, also my weapon of choice)

Magnum, the most deadliest sniper in the game, also known as the “AWP”, a terrorist and counter-terrorist gun. One bullet to the head, neck, chest or pelvic region is an instant kill, but mind you, moving around with this gun causes you to run slowly, and if you try to shoot whilst moving, your aim goes completely whack! Easiest solution: Find a nice place to “camp” and get those easy picks, this gun is crucial in a war and will help your team indefinitely!

The Desert Eagle (Deagle, My starting weapon of choice)

The deadliest pistol in the game. These are the most common guns to be bought on a start round in a war, as their efficiency in taking down a whole team is quick and reliable, just 2 bullets with this baby into someones chest is a kill, and 3 – 4 in the limbs, 1 in the head of course.. this pistol is not to be taken lightly!  The firing capacity of this gun is 7 bullets, and a 35 bullet clip. It’s accuracy depends whether or not your moving, but if at stand still, is very effective at long and close range!

That covers the main guns used in a war, if you don’t know what a war or pug is, tune in…

A War

A team of 5 members, usually called a clan, get together and verse another clan, this is a war. The match will go until the best of 16, if a draw, overtime will be called. Professional matches are organized using this system.

A Pug

Consisting of just random people found in a server, once again, a 5 vs 5 situation occurs, and it’s the best of 16.

Now to go into strategies!

First, I’ll start with saying, use the sensitivity that best suits you! If you feel comfortable with a sensitivity, but aren’t getting those awesome kills, then give it about a week or two, the reason being? because the muscles in your hands and arms have to adjust to the newly created settings, so they can reproduce the same results over and over again, getting every movement correct to your sensitivity is critical, it’s all called muscle memory. To change your sensitivity, make sure your developer console is enabled, you can test this by pressing the ` key, also known as the “Tilda” key, if it’s not enabled, simply go to “Options > Keyboard & Mouse > Advanced > Enable Console“.

Secondly, select a cross hair scale that suits “your” playing style! Remember, you must have your console enabled for this to work! Open your console and type “cl_crosshairscale xxxx” and the “xxxx” being the number that you want, remember a crosshairscale in the 4 digit zone is usually the best, as it will be a decent size for any modern day monitor.

Last but not least! Getting that sneaky surprise on the enemy! If you are in a war, public game, or pug, and want to get the element of surprise on your enemy, there are multiple things you can do, but today I’ll outline the 2 major strategies that have worked for me! Firstly, walking around in hallways, up stairs, and anywhere else not in the open, this is a major advantage in the game, as most people “Sound whore” which consists of them just camping somewhere and listening for you! So by walking around, you can get the element of surprise when they turn around, and see your muzzle in their face, and then they think “Oh Sh**!”. Secondly, using your teammates as a decoy, this can also be classified as baiting if you don’t ask for permission from your team. What you do, is get your team to go to one bombsite, and make some descent enough noise (Kills, crossfire etc..), then, once you’ve heard the enemy rotate to where your team is, you run in and plant the bomb! Or if you don’t have the bomb, you can simply get behind the enemy and take them out without them noticing your even there! Excellent isn’t it?

My steam and Counter-Strike: Source name is KlinK, and I can be added if you search me up :)

And that concludes my little guide, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it, and taken it upon yourself to get to know some of the strategies I use, maybe they could come in handy one day, but then again, this is MY playing style!
