Always the person taking down an enemy, then being taken out by another?
Finding it hard to get those important frags?
Want to get those “Impossible” shots?
Then this guide is for you!
Counter-Strike: Source, produced by the Steam Application, created by Valve Corporation.
I decided to write this article up, as many people have asked me, and or questioned my ability to play Counter-Strike: Source (CSS, as I will now refer to in the rest of this post) so well, and this guide is a way of expressing how I think about the game.
First, I’ll start off with the weapon basics, and how to get the best out of that 30 bullet clip!
The AK-47
One of the best rifles in the game, I would rank this 2nd, the Terrorists gun of choice. The AK-47 has enough fire power to bring down an entire team, as does any gun, but this really packs a punch. The only real “problem” with the AK, is the tremendous amount of recoil. The recoil can simply be suppressed though, by bringing down your mouse whilst you shoot. Spraying is not the best way to go with this gun, as the damage impact on targets will be minimal, you’re best to stick with burst fire, 2-3 shots with a 1 second interval preferably.
The M4A1 (My gun of choice)
Most accurate rifle for close and distant combat, this is the M4A1. The M4A1 or as most people call it for short, the M4, has just a little less firepower than the AK, but is a whole lot more accurate! I prefer this gun over the AK any day, as you can get the most ridiculous strafing shots, whilst being immune to the enemy! The recoil on this gun is minimal, and is a great weapon to spray with, you just need to know the pattern of the spray, and control it for the best efficiency! Once again, 2-3 shots with a 1 second interval is the best way to go.
The Magnum (AWP, also my weapon of choice)
Magnum, the most deadliest sniper in the game, also known as the “AWP”, a terrorist and counter-terrorist gun. One bullet to the head, neck, chest or pelvic region is an instant kill, but mind you, moving around with this gun causes you to run slowly, and if you try to shoot whilst moving, your aim goes completely whack! Easiest solution: Find a nice place to “camp” and get those easy picks, this gun is crucial in a war and will help your team indefinitely!
The Desert Eagle (Deagle, My starting weapon of choice)
The deadliest pistol in the game. These are the most common guns to be bought on a start round in a war, as their efficiency in taking down a whole team is quick and reliable, just 2 bullets with this baby into someones chest is a kill, and 3 – 4 in the limbs, 1 in the head of course.. this pistol is not to be taken lightly! The firing capacity of this gun is 7 bullets, and a 35 bullet clip. It’s accuracy depends whether or not your moving, but if at stand still, is very effective at long and close range!
That covers the main guns used in a war, if you don’t know what a war or pug is, tune in…
A War
A team of 5 members, usually called a clan, get together and verse another clan, this is a war. The match will go until the best of 16, if a draw, overtime will be called. Professional matches are organized using this system.
A Pug
Consisting of just random people found in a server, once again, a 5 vs 5 situation occurs, and it’s the best of 16.
Now to go into strategies!
First, I’ll start with saying, use the sensitivity that best suits you! If you feel comfortable with a sensitivity, but aren’t getting those awesome kills, then give it about a week or two, the reason being? because the muscles in your hands and arms have to adjust to the newly created settings, so they can reproduce the same results over and over again, getting every movement correct to your sensitivity is critical, it’s all called muscle memory. To change your sensitivity, make sure your developer console is enabled, you can test this by pressing the ` key, also known as the “Tilda” key, if it’s not enabled, simply go to “Options > Keyboard & Mouse > Advanced > Enable Console“.
Secondly, select a cross hair scale that suits “your” playing style! Remember, you must have your console enabled for this to work! Open your console and type “cl_crosshairscale xxxx” and the “xxxx” being the number that you want, remember a crosshairscale in the 4 digit zone is usually the best, as it will be a decent size for any modern day monitor.
Last but not least! Getting that sneaky surprise on the enemy! If you are in a war, public game, or pug, and want to get the element of surprise on your enemy, there are multiple things you can do, but today I’ll outline the 2 major strategies that have worked for me! Firstly, walking around in hallways, up stairs, and anywhere else not in the open, this is a major advantage in the game, as most people “Sound whore” which consists of them just camping somewhere and listening for you! So by walking around, you can get the element of surprise when they turn around, and see your muzzle in their face, and then they think “Oh Sh**!”. Secondly, using your teammates as a decoy, this can also be classified as baiting if you don’t ask for permission from your team. What you do, is get your team to go to one bombsite, and make some descent enough noise (Kills, crossfire etc..), then, once you’ve heard the enemy rotate to where your team is, you run in and plant the bomb! Or if you don’t have the bomb, you can simply get behind the enemy and take them out without them noticing your even there! Excellent isn’t it?
My steam and Counter-Strike: Source name is KlinK, and I can be added if you search me up
And that concludes my little guide, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it, and taken it upon yourself to get to know some of the strategies I use, maybe they could come in handy one day, but then again, this is MY playing style!
